How the estimate works. A coiled rug is one long padded tube spiraled flat, so material scales with the rug’s area. It’s calibrated to a common as-built result: one jelly roll (about forty 2½″×44″ strips) with roughly 50 yd of 2½″ batting and ~1,200 yd of thread makes about a 30″×44″ oval (~7 sq ft). Your size scales from that. Oval area = π/4 × width × length; round area = π/4 × diameter². Wide-batting equivalent assumes ~90″ batting cut into 2½″ strips. Thread counts both top and bobbin (every stitch uses both); bobbins come from half the total ÷ your bobbin’s capacity. Assumes 2½″ (jelly-roll) strips.
